Thomas Mario Metwally Nigerian Scammer

Thank you for your site! I almost made the biggest mistake of my life. I met this guy on Yahoo messenger - Thomas Mario Metwally - 52 (said he was 49) who know for real - had a son - a CIVIL ENGINEER. He is in Lagos, Nigeria working on a construction contract. He is from Milan Italy, got a visa to the US for 5 years about to expire. Anyway, he was like the answer to my dreams, loving words, wanted to take care of me, had money, wanted to come to Canada, wanted me to help him invest his money, told me how he envisioned our wedding, that he wanted to take me to Paris, France for a honeymoon. I was hooked - totally blown away. He told me about his son and how his wife had died of breast cancer - he had been married 18 years etc.. He told me that on August 16th it was his son's Ben birthday and I shared how I always made birthdays special and ask what he was getting Ben for his birthday. He made it out that he had nothing planned and didn't know what Ben wanted. Why didn't I ask Ben? So we arranged to have Ben on line the next day so I could talk to him. Who knows who I was talking to. Anyway, Ben wanted a notebook computer. I thought it strange that if his father was wealthy why didn't he have one already, but I let it go, so I mentioned it to Thomas. He suggested we go have on it and that he could pay for the whole thing since he had invested all his money in the project and had very little spending money. So I sent him $500. And this is where it started. I had revealed all the bad relationships I had had, that I was independant and a business person, which I am. Which is why when he started telling me about the problem he was having financing the project, I started asking lots of questions. He didn't like this. I even raised the question of him being a scammer since I've heard of them happening and I had started to look things up on the net. I couldn't understand with a construction contract with the government that they would only give you 60% of the money up front and expect the contractor to finance the rest until the job was completed. I know here it is paid in progress payments as to completion, with 10% to 20% held back which is usually the markup. So I started asking questions again. Then he hit me up for $10,000. Well, my suspicions came up, I told him I didn't have the money which I don't, but he pleaded. When I finally said no and told him not to contact me again he said that it was okay, he found the money - he sold some properties and had found someone - a "mr. francis" to finance the rest. So I thought okay, maybe everything was okay. So I started talking to him again. Then 2 nights ago, he tells me "mr. francis" didn't come through, that now he need $15000.00. And to think I actually went to a friend - who trusts me- lied and got the money. It is beside me now, waiting to be wired.

But someone, maybe God, was looking out for me because he made a mistake. To try and show how much he loved me he was going to send me a package, what was my address. I gave it to him. Anyway, the package never arrived. Then I found a note on my mail box (I live in an apartment) that a parcel had tried to be delivered but I wasn't home. Please call this number etc. I called and was told that the flowers had gone back to the florist and the delivery company would contact them to redeliver. All yesterday I didn't hear from them. So I called them this morning, and was told that apparently it was a fraud order. Well that got me thinking and nervous again. So I went on line and found this site. The stories are so similar and the guideline you give - where if you answer yes to any of these questions - well I answered yes to almost every one. These guys are good. They really know how to play you - I was only on the dating site for 3 days and he picked me up. I'm giving up dating sites.

What I can't understand is how they get the documents to look so real. He sent me a picture of his passport, his american visa document and a copy of a Contract Award Certificate. How would the average person ever be able to tell that they're fake. So the name he used is Thomas Mario Metwally, cell # 234-812-7995227

Now of course, if he isn't a scammer, I've lost the man of my dreams.

So now, I will have to go about securing my life, changing phone numbers and emails. But at least I didn't send him the $15000.00. Thanks Again!

Another Day, Another Scam this time from Ghana

Watch out for a lady named Lawer Linda Mauwginuwua from Accra, Ghana. She promised me the world, broke my heart and took my money. Her photo is a 31 year old white woman who has blond hair and a voluptuous figure and smile. My guess is that the pirates in Ghana took her photo off the Internet and scammed me. I got several documents from her which appear to be fraudulent. She is extremely attractive and her messages were as sweet as they could be. She refuses to return emails now that she has my money. Please advise if there are any organizations that can help me recover my money and prosecute these pirates.

This was sent on 5/20/11. She attached the picture with her in shackles with it. That cost me $500 to allegedly get her out of jail. The transfer of gold ownership was what she said she needed. I was a sucker and it makes me sick to be conned like this.

footnote - She never did anything to try to come be with me. She told me she had bought a ticket from KLM airlines. When I called them, thy had no record of her buying a ticket. It appears that the lady in the pictures is not real. My bet is that these pirates picked the picture off the Internet and she is not aware of her picture being used in a scam. Alan Cole, Scammer from Lagos Nigeria - Letter From A Reader

We just received this from a reader who was kind enough to share her story with us...

He claims his name is Alan Cole (and I later found out that "Cole" is commonly used). He has two email addresses:

He found me on a dating site and wrote to me on 5/3/2010. My birthday was the next week and sure enough--he sent 4 extravagant arrangements of flowers, a huge box of Godiva chocolates and a teddy bear. (I later found out that all scammers send the exact same gifts). He told me he was in Ikeja, Lagos as a construction supervisor for a new road and lives in Signal Hill, California. The following week he started asking for money.

Short story: He got $1,000 out of me (this includes $300 in text messaging on my cell), ruined my credit card standing with bogus deposits to "cover the cash advances", sent me a fake check and 3 fake money orders from a "friend" here in the States, all of which were confiscated by Wells Fargo Bank's Fraud Dept. Swears up and down that he is not a scammer and a liar...yet he does all the things that scammers do.

The man in the photo may or may not be him....and if it isn't him, then some poor guy is unaware that his photos are being used by this Nigerian liar. He had the "spouse who died in a tragic car acciident" (Kim) and has two children - Brenda and John. All are lies.

I almost got scammed by a girl registered under "truluvneeded" who happens to have her email imbedded in her profile. Her supposed real name is Gift L.Williams who claims to be the daughter of an oil contractor (williams oil I suppose) who works as her dad's auditor, but has since had a fight with him, and has fled from Auckland, New Zealand (where she claims to live) to Nigeria where she is hiding money which she acquired from an "over-invoiced contract". She wanted to send this 2.7 million GBP pounds over in customs checked security boxes, and for me to pay the shipping fee. I refused. She didn't mind, but then she said all that was stopping her coming to see me was that she'd been accused by the hotel she's at of overstaying, and they've seized her passport. Until she pays only $750 US she can't get it back. She only asks for a small contribution, and she will sell her laptop to pay the rest. This is where I said goodbye. She's an attractive girl with black hair and olive skin - in her profile pic she's wearing glasses and claims to be caucasian - in the photo she sent me there were 2 girls who looked almost identical sipping a cocktail. Her grammar is consistentently terrible, apart from once when I pointed this out, and the next email was perfect grammar, but in a different font, and seemed prepared for use on anyone. She's still registered and keeps altering her profile in order to be at the start of the search list. the consumate scammer playing it to the last. This was her email: w_gift@live.com

I met this guy called himself Nelson Charles on a dating sit. He told me he is doing Timber product business. After we sent emails to each other about two weeks, he said he had to go to Nigeria do some business. After he "arrived" in that country and constantly sent my loving mails and IMs, my emotion really slowly drown into that relationship. Until a big portion of money were grabbed away from me, and I never recieved any mails or IMs from him again.

The following attached information is about the person. I know it is not the man on these pictures did all these. There are one person or a few men behind these pictures. I just hope you can help other women and not be deceived by this good-looking man's pictures. and make the same mistake as I did.
